Hold the dessert? Pies N' Tarts project

We are working on a new tasty project...it is a work in progress for sure, but we think we are ready for the big reveal...no, that is not our completed quilt in the picture below!  That is where we're heading though.

Pies N' Tarts by Sue Daley Patchwork with Busyfingers
Quilt Size: 70" x 70"
English Paper Piecing

Sue Daley's quilt
There are a few ways to participate in this project if you're ready to tackle some curved english paper piecing - this might be just what you've been looking for.  You can purchase a starter pack that includes papers and the acrylic templates for piecing and cutting both sizes of wedges.  The pack also includes general instructions for the project and english paper piecing methods.  The cost is $34.95 for the starter pack.  We'll be ordering these as we get sign-ups so you can start when you're ready.

We are also offering supporting fabric bundles - you can work from your stash of scraps, supplement your backgrounds with our collection of reproductions or create something entirely different using solids or batiks!
Background Bundles
(5) 1/2 yd cuts
2.5 yds total $26.95
Need 5 yds for background to do the 70" x 70" quilt shown

Monthly Fat Eighth bundles
Monthly fabric selection of fat eighths for pies and tarts - a perfect supplement for your stash that you can mix n' match or duplicate whichever fabrics you prefer.  Each month selection will provide enough for approximately 8 pies and 8 tarts...using the 4 sets of complementary fabrics.  These bundles are offered with a quarterly subscription for a $12.00/monthly fee.

Work in Progress....blocks at 2T

We're finding that english paper piecing is easy to take along on travels, and anywhere you end up with time to sit and stitch.  It is fun to accumulate a stack of blocks over time and this project is perfect for all those scraps you've been buried under...you'll make gradual progress and have an amazing quilt to look at (no calories) when you're done.

We'll have options to order on line posted to the website in the next few days and we can ship our monthly bundles if you want a regular dose of 1800's prints!  We'll post a few updates as we make some more progress with our version so check back for a progress report.

Happy stitching!

New fabrics and bright modern solids!

We fell in love with the In the Beginning modern solids when they first appeared - they are more of a poplin weight, and are woven yarn dye, so soft and really amazing colors…so we planned to carry them all!  Who wants to choose, right?  And then, all of a sudden, they weren't going to reprint the fabric line and we were sad…so we cried and complained and that always works at home right?  Well…it worked!!!  They have decided to continue the line, and we are very pleased.  So here are the latest additions - Yummy colors!

A few neutral modern solids are back in stock! Pop in to pick some up while they're still around!

And check this work of art out…A quick project Kelly whipped up and it really showcases a couple of her favorite colors along with some big stitch quilting!  Really think this turned out fab-u-lous!

Kelly's Wallhanging

Of course, a new toile is always good - and lavender?  We really don't have much in the shop in these shades so thought they would make a good addition to our stash.  These would stitch up nicely into a stack of sachets to have on hand for gift-giving….gotta get started right?!

Lavender Lakehouse prints
We finally put some of our Downton Abbey fabrics into a project - as you know, they are a bit 'modern' for our reproduction fabrics, but we mixed and matched and created this quick throw quilt.  A nice prelude into fall don't you agree?  We used the versatile Villa Rosa Designs 'Intrigue' pattern.  It has become our 'go to' design for a an easy project and combines just the right amount of fabrics to give it a patchwork look without going scrappy.

Downton Abbey plus fabrics

Some new vibrant colors to mix and match with some solids perhaps?  The top bolt is a linen and cotton blend fabric, a bit heavier weight and it would be perfect for a back to school jumper for your favorite school girl.

Holiday Ornament Class and Hand stitching

We had a great time getting busy with our last class for stitchery - and here is a peek at our ornament class.  We still have room in the Saturday session August 16th...just a couple of hours and you'll be on your way to a jump start on holiday decorating and gift-giving!

Did we already share the post on the pattern designer's website?  American Homestead gave us a little shout out!  You can read it and see more of her stuff here.

We also have room in the PaintBox Sampler class on Saturday the 9th.  This one will take a bit more of a time commitment, but you are going to have alot of fun practicing some great stitches in colorwheel style.  The basics of several hand embroidery stitches, a portable project, and a new skill set!

Call or stop by the store if either of these classes will fit your schedule.  We'd love to have a few more join the group - and we are carrying all the DMC floss solid colors so we can keep you in stock.

Enjoy the sunshine?!
