Class will also included time to practice some variations and look at what different effects are created by combining threads and stitches! Your project will be a lasting go-to guide for future projects and can easily be made into a picture, pillow (pictured above), or tote! The class fee is $65.00, included in this cost is a kit which includes threads, base fabric, needles, and a hoop, to create the dresden plate shown below.

We are working on some future stitching class ideas - and this sampler will be the basis for more to come.  These hand stitching projects are perfect for summer sewing at the lake, or even by the campfire (bring a head lamp!).

Berries and Cream Curated Short Stack

Tis the season...here are a few of our favorite reds and creams...just add some shortcake and you've got a delicious treat!  These fat quarter stacks will appear each month, featuring a color theme, flavor of the week or just whatever odd combination might strike us.  These are the perfect addition for your collection - something to add an unexpected touch to your scrap project, that might not be the same as what you choose on your own.  Enjoy!

Oh yes, and tis the season for more than just berries and cream, our favorite holidays are creeping up on us, and yes, that could be in December or for those of us partial to the chocolate seasons, that would mean October is right around the corner.   We are starting to get some GREAT fun holiday prints so stop by soon and see what has been added to the shelves!

holiday metallics

We are working on some new holiday projects - and we'll have those available soon, but you don't have to wait until then to find a use for the two newest shades of grunge - a plum and a rouge color that are fun additions to some of the neutral colors we've stocked previously.

And then - there are a couple of new solids that fit into the 1800's collections very nicely.  They are new colors for us, one called Moss, the other is Old Gold.  The Moss, is the one featured in a few of the quilts by Biz Storms and Mary Elizabeth Kinch.  We talked about this at the workshop in April, and I was able to get a bolt of that lovely pea soup color....goes with everything?!

Another year another quilt...Anniversary Bouquet

We chose a simple pattern of small strips set with alternate plain blocks - a pattern from the Red Button Company, and changed it up in terms of the color palette.  The Spring bouquet version features some hand-dyed wool in raspberry, pink and blue, and couple of the prints from the recent Old Sturbridge line of fabric by Marcus Brothers.

Add the wool, a few little buttons and some special stitchery and you have a simple and pretty doll quilt!  The buttons come with the pattern, and we have it available as a separate item so you can put your own fabrics together or choose one of our kits.  The blue version features grey heathered wool for the posies, combined with a deeper green hand-dyed wool for the leaves.  Simple and sweet?!

New fabric speaks for itself?

Too many choices, not enough time?  Something like that anyway....we have a new little doll quilt that features a few of the Old Sturbridge fabrics and a bit of wool - we'll show it off soon, or stop by and check it out!

Toile Challenge Projects

Please don't get too excited - we don't actually have any purple toile in stock!  These shades are all created from the white and black toile that we DO have in stock.  What a difference a packet of dye can make?  This fabulous round quilt was a top vote recipient in the categories of most innovative design and most creative use of the toile fabric....Thank-you Suz - I might just have to make a dahlia quilt of my own now that you've shown us another take on color and design.

Wow - what a difference a change in shape makes.  I can't say I've ever seen an oval center before and it really turns this small quilt into more of a portrait don't you think?  Kind of like an old photo and beautiful chocolate brown shades!!  Great job Louise!

And Judy shipped her little quilt to us from California to enjoy - beautiful soft colors, a nice border stripe and a great use for this larger scale subtle colored toile print.  This quilt won viewer's choice!  Great job Judy and thanks so much for sharing long distance!

These two pillows were the most vibrant - starting with the shades of blue toile - very innovative designs and a great step towards modern and crisp with the white contrast.  These are well executed Lynn and interesting to look at, a great way to take toile fabric beyond traditional!
And yes...if you look closely, Sharon did use some of the toile in the light position in this little quilt.  It is a beautiful quilt, and the fun pops of color, and bit of toile all combine to make a work of art.  I really appreciated that although this was about toile, Sharon was able to create a project that was on her terms and still participate in our challenge.  We love that!

Thank-you to everyone that participated, by entering, voting and/or admiring we hope you found some inspiration one way or another!

Happy Stitching and Congratulations to our winners!!
